Dr. Samuel Moore MChD, EMC, MIPH, BA-Psy
Dr Sam Moore was born in the United States but grew up in Sydney, Australia. After high school he went back to the US and completed his Bachelor of the Arts at the University of California Berkeley with a major and honours in Psychology.
Aspiring to explore the world a little he then spent three years travelling through Asia teaching English before returning home to Australia. Inspired by his travels, Dr Moore then completed a Master's in International Public Health at the University of Sydney before embarking upon his medical career.
He obtained his Medical/Surgical Degree at the Australian National University in Canberra with a year of rural medicine in Bega, a remote rotation in Yuendemu, Northern Territory, and an international elective in India. He then relocated to the Northern Rivers, completing his internship and residency at Tweed Hospital.
Dr Moore is currently a registrar of the RACGP, providing care in all fields of general practice. He has completed advanced skills training in emergency medicine and continues to work on occasion at Byron Central Hospital Emergency Department. Other areas of interest include paediatrics, obstetrics, mental health and travel medicine.
Sam is passionate about supporting the health and well-being of the wonderful people of the Byron Shire through a holistic evidenced-based approach to medicine that focuses on optimising the mind, body and soul. Developing strong therapeutic relationships and engaging in shared and informed decision-making is a cornerstone of his practice.
When not in the clinic he attempts to keep his own mind, body and soul healthy by playing three-chord songs on his guitar, jogging around town early in the morning, growing chillies and other assorted herbs and vegetables, very gradually learning how to surf, and spending time with his partner and baby boy.
